At Children's Music Academy of Springfield, Children will experience the wonder of music in a fun-filled, hands-on environment. Making music is so fulfilling in our group music classes for children ages 3 to 9 years old and it is also so very positive and affirming. We have seen first hand, over and over how our interactive approach to music education creates a lifelong love of music for children.
OUR Music Classes for kids
All of our music classes are designed for beginner musicians. But they don’t stay "beginners" for long. At CMA a child will learn: Piano/Keyboard Playing, Singing, Music Theory, Harmony, Rhythm, Note Reading, Ear Training, Composition, Ensemble Playing, Recorder, Guitar and more! Your child will be placed in the music class that corresponds with the age they begin Children's Music Academy.

Classes meet for one hour, once per week and are offered at a variety of times: mornings, early afternoons, late afternoons, and evenings. CMA enrolls new students each Fall and Spring and our semesters follow the local school calendar (seasonal breaks and national holidays are observed).
The fun and supportive environment naturally draws children into the learning activities. Activities are fast-paced; incorporate games, songs, dances, and ensemble playing; and involve a variety of musical instruments. Parents actively participate with their child.
My daughter, Molly, recently graduated from the CMA program, and I can honestly say it was one of the most valuable investments that we have ever made. She was given excellent instruction in piano, music theory and ear training, and most importantly, a love for music! A wonderful bonus is that because it is parent/child, I too “re-learned” how to play piano
Pre-Junior Music Class
Age: 3-yr olds & young 4 yr olds
Course length: 8 Weeks
This class is a perfect introduction to music.
The fun and supportive environment naturally draws children into the learning activities. Activities are fast-paced; incorporate games, songs, dances, and ensemble playing; and involve a variety of musical instruments. Parents actively participate with their child.
Class length: 45 minutes.
Accepting new students each Fall and Spring semester.
Junior Music Class
Beginning Age: Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten (4-6 year olds)
Course length: 4 years
This is a perfect music class for 4-6 year old children. This is the prime age for a child to begin their musical training. Children will be introduced to all the music fundamentals through age-appropriate activities in a highly creative and affirming environment. Parents enjoy learning right along with their child and participating in this energetic and fun class. The Junior Course ends with an inspirational and rewarding graduation ceremony.
Class length: 1 hour
Intermediate Music Class
Beginning Age: 1st and 2nd Graders (7-9 year olds)
Course length: 3 years
This is a beginner music class especially designed for 7-9 year old children. Each child will learn our age-appropriate Children's Music Academy curriculum within 3 years. The program is a delivered at a faster pace than the Junior Program due the child's age when he/she begins the Intermediate Course. Parents participate in the lessons and will experience the joy of watching their child learn and apply new musical knowledge. Children graduating the Intermediate Course will also end with the same inspirational graduation ceremony as the other courses have.
