Engage Better With These Things To Do With Kids This Summer
Summer’s just around the corner and that can only mean one thing for your kids – more time to hang around and enjoy the No Homework season!
That’s why it’s the perfect opportunity to plan things to do with your kids this summer!
To figure out ways on how to engage with your child. Bonding time PLUS vacation activities for students at home make the summer super worthwhile and meaningful for the whole family.
Come on, we’ve all been there, right? Remember those fun summer mornings and evenings when you were a kid and you’d go camping with the family, trip to the beach, hikes, fishing, bike riding with your best friend… Good times!
And now, it’s your turn to cook up some awesome kids activities; your toddlers at home, something engaging for your teens, or whatever age range your kids belong to. All it takes is pumping your creative juices and let it flow.
How to Engage with Your Child this Summer
Every age group has different ideas of what a fun summer activity should be like.
But whether you have a toddler, teen, or an in-between, knowing how to engage your child at home is very important to make the long summer break productive for these kiddos.
See, modern technology gets most kids hooked on staying indoors with their eyes glued to their phones, video games or computer.
Getting them to look away from the screen CAN be a ton of work sometimes, but the key is to provide your child with things to do that are a more fun alternative to electronics.
Your goal is get them to stay outside, enjoy nature, laugh, play, and bond with the whole family. Less screen time, MORE family time.
Let’s face it – kids grow up so fast, and the next thing you know, they’ll be ready to move out and go to college. So you have to make each day count and have plenty of family bonding experiences with them.
Give yourself and your kids fond memories to cherish forever!
Family moments don’t really have to be grand. If you’re worried about spending hundreds of dollars on a trip with the whole gang in tow, scratch that thought. The BEST things in life are FREE!
Things To Do With Kids Outdoors
A fun and epic outdoor activity can be as simple as going to the park for a picnic, riding bicycles together, playing hide and seek, swimming in the pool, gathering around the campfire to sing songs as you play the guitar, sharing funny stories…. Skateboarding, maybe start a friendly neighborhood game of football, baseball, frisbee…the opportunities of fun are endless!
Cousins and uncles and aunts visiting? Cool.
You can form teams and play against each other to see who’s the soccer champ or frisbee champs this summer!
Spend quality time with the kiddos this summer and practice working on your sport skills like hitting, throwing, catching.
Kids have loads of energy and they’ll sign up for these activities for hours on end without any complaint. You know how that’s like. You were a kid once, too!
How to Engage Your Child at Home
It doesn’t really take much to engage your kids this summer…
You don’t need to make things so elaborate, grand or even expensive.
Even the changing weather can be a perfect way to vary your summer activities for kids.
A little rain, okay, maybe even a thunderstorm, doesn’t have to make things boring for the family.
Don’t let the occasional rain put a damper on your family fun time! You can still have an excellent bonding experience even when indoors (yep, electronics all turned off).
You’ve got your board games, musical instruments, arts and crafts to discover, science experiments (minus blowing up the kitchen) maybe bake a cake with the kids, let them participate in cooking…
A messy kitchen could sure use several pairs of hands, right? LOL.
Then for some downtime after a food coma, you can have your older kids read to younger kids or turn the TV on for a couple of hours to enjoy a kid-friendly movie with popcorn. These classic family bonding favorites NEVER get old, I’m telling you.
And before the day ends, you’ve got your cozy little dinner followed by a nice, warm bath. A bedtime story or two to tell the kids, and that should cap off the perfect family time.
Rinse and repeat. 🙂
Create loving memories with your family. It’s the BEST treasure you can have for the rest of your life.
